Gateway West Transmission Line (Idaho and Wyoming)
Gateway WestThis transmission Corridor starts just outside of Casper, Wyoming, swinging down through the southern part of the state and end in Boise, Idaho. How it overlays with important sage-grouse and sage-dependent species, impacts to riparian areas, and other environmental considerations are all part of what Audubon is considering when examining this project.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has released the draft environmental impact statement for the project, proposed by Idaho Power Company and Rocky Mountain Power. This project would add approximately 1,100 miles of new high voltage transmission lines across southern Idaho and southern Wyoming. This project is part of several other transmission projects being pursued by PacifiCorp: Gateway South (Wyoming, Colorado, Utah) and Gateway Central (Idaho and Utah).
