Lesser Prairie-chicken are a flagship species for the broad, open prairies of the southern High Plains. Audubon is working to keep their iconic habitat and threatened populations healthy in the face of direct habitat loss from conversion of prairie, spread of invasive plant species including Eastern red cedar, and energy development.
