Solar Communities

The unused real estate on flat-roofed public buildings is an untapped opportunity for increasing solar use in our communities. Parking lots are another area where solar systems can be installed (by creating structures that would both shade cars and support solar panels). Urge your school district, local library, or township to assess whether installing solar makes sense.

The Solar Energy Industries Association and the Solar Foundation have created an online tool where the solar potential of individual school buildings can be reviewed.  See what the opportunity looks like for your schools.
